Our teachers know and care for each child individually. They are focused on improving learning outcomes for all students. We have a fair and positive policy on welfare and discipline.
The Arts
We encourage our students to develop their creative talents in visual and performing arts. Our school choirs, dance groups, string ensembles and bands participate in music festivals, concerts and school presentations.
Students talented in drama have an opportunity to audition for our High Potential and Gifted (HPGE) drama program and those identified with high potential in visual arts have an opportunity to join our HPGE art workshops delivered by a local artist and teacher.
Sporting Facilities
Killarney Heights Public School has its own large oval where students enjoy a range of recreational and organised sports. Local tennis courts are used regularly by our students.

Student Welfare
We put student wellbeing and safety of our students first. Our Positive Behaviour Engaging Learners (PBEL) program provides staff and students with a positive, proactive system for defining, teaching and supporting appropriate student behaviours. The three core behavioural expectations are taught to all students through formal social skills instruction. These expectations are applied across all areas of the school. They are Respect, Responsibility and Success.
Other student welfare programs include Year 6 Buddy program, student leadership program, Student Representative Council (SRC), and various Health and Personal Development programs.
Our school has a Learning and Support Team which meet weekly to support students with additional learning needs. Our school counsellor is also available twice a week. We also offer HPGE Mathematics, Writing, French and Drama.
Parent Involvement
Parents and the local community are an inclusive part of our school. KHPS is a local school in the truest sense of the word, and enjoys the strong involvement and support of parents and the local community.
Parents assist with all areas of school life, which includes the Parents and Citizens Association (P&C), our nutritious canteen, our uniform shop, bands and of course, our classrooms.
Parents fundraise for the school, and along with the uniform shop and canteen, provide funds to purchase major items for the school. The P&C built the multipurpose court and the K-2 playground and funded a complete upgrade of technology.
